CPD

London Development Trust offers educational opportunities to critically explore and unpack varied dimensions of social sustainability and social stewardship and learn about our 5-Keystone approach community development.

With the demand for sustainable development models that serve communities’ diverse needs ever increasing, we have designed a short course to equip professionals with actionable strategies to create meaningful, long-lasting impacts in urban spaces. As recent research highlights, regeneration efforts sometimes fall short in reducing inequality—but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Academics have highlighted how within the three pillars of sustainability defined as ‘Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)’, the social or the “S” is often missing from research and practice.

However, it is increasingly being recognised as essential to respond to social value, inclusion and infrastructure in sustainability.

Our MA-Level Professional CPD Course ‘Cities and Sustainable Development’ in partnership with Middlesex University puts the S in ESG and offers a great opportunity for professionals to engage in the theories and practice of sustainable urban development that meets challenges faced by communities up and down the country.

You’ll learn through practical experiences such as site visits, workshops, mock development briefs, developing funding applications and interactive lectures. This course is tailored to help students understand and reconcile real-world complexities such as managing stakeholders and funding challenges in the integration of social and environmental policy aims.

Find out more about the course and issues it addresses in our Virtual Town Hall recording on Cities and Sustainable Development.

This course will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and boost your career through learning about urban development challenges and methods for finding socially sustainable solutions.
